Flight Mission Details
BRDF study over uniform Cerrados. The filter wheel channel is locked onto 1.6 and 2.2 µm. The sky radiances were characterized.
To characterized the sky radiance, the banking to the left was performed at around 19:06 UTC (scan count = 13282). Unfortunately there was little time left before heading back to Brasilia and I could only squeeze in one circular flight during which I manually alternated filterwheel position between 2 and 5 position every couple of seconds.
The topography around this general area is hilly, We found a small piece of land that is reasonably flat under current circumstance. Scrub-like vegetation cover is uniform but not very dense. There is also a small river nearby, which is a little closer that what I'd have liked.
Flight Path, Timing, and Measurements
17:29:10 UTC, scan count = 3504: C-131A flew directly through two isolated cumulous clouds. The primary objective of the first part of the flight is to rendezvous with ER-2.
18:53 UTC, scan count = 11979: circular pattern was commenced over cerrado at 6072 feet (or 1851 meters) and the roll angle was kept at 20°. We did approximately three circles when data channel 8 was locked onto filterwheel position 2 (1.6 µ).
18:59 UTC, scan count = 12543: I switched the filterwheel position onto 2.2 µ and completed two circles.
